The tree can reach a height of up to 30 metres and is extremely undemanding in terms of soil quality and climate. It thrives in nutrient-rich soils as well as in poor soils, and is even frequently found on raw rock. Pinus Pinea is known for its edible seeds, the pine nuts, which are often used roasted or raw in salad recipes.
